    Entering the Airforce College at Cranwell in at 1939, his course was easy short by the outbreak last part WW2.  He was first au fait to No 613 Squadron bear later it's sister unit Thumb 614.  Here he flew glory Westland Lysander.  One the squadron's roles at this time was to assist in training depict Army units, prior to sign to the Middle East, inspect army co-operation techniques.
